SafeLumber Fire Fatality Warranty

SafeLumber provides a lifetime limited warranty that will pay $50,000 in the event of loss of life by accidental fire in a home or apartment built to the minimum SafeLumber standards as described below. This limited warranty shall apply to any original owner of a residential building. This warranty automatically transfers to any new owner of the building provided the transfer occurs within the first ten years of the limited warranty period. The limited warranty period ends with any transfer of ownership after the first ten years of the warranty period.

The warranty payment is limited to $50,000 for any single dwelling. The warranty payment will be made to the victim's next of kin, or as directed by the victim's estate. In the event of multiple fatalities, the $50,000 payment will be divided equally among the victims.

This warranty is valid only upon the issuance of a Fire Fatality Warranty Certificate by SafeLumber at the time of construction. The minimum construction requirements for issuance of the certificate are:

• All wooden wall frame components, including inside and outside walls, must be SafeLumber. These components include all sills, plates, headers, and studs on each floor of living space.
• The certificate must be requested before application of the interior wall covering.
• SafeLumber reserves the right to inspect the structure before issuing the certificate.
