Why Use SafeLumber?

Protect Against Termites

The increasing heat and humidity provide an ideal habitat for subterranean termites.  Standard soil treatment often proves inadequate, particularly against the formidable Formosan termites migrating northward from the Gulf areas.  SafeLumber is safe for human contact, yet it protects the structure of your home against termite invasion.

Protect Against Decay and Mold

The borate component of SafeLumber protects against decay and the mold inhibitor additive provides additional protection against mold.

Protect Against Corrosion

Other wood treatment options may contain corrosive ingredients that can damage standard nails, screws and fasteners over time.  Borate Lumber does not corrode hardware.  No special fasteners or flashings are required.

Protect Against Pests

SafeLumber guards against infestation of cockroaches, carpenter ants and other pests.  Forest Products Journal recently released a laboratory study demonstrating the effectiveness of Borate Lumber in controlling cockroach invasion.  Two cockroach populations of 60 insects each were housed in a wood enclosure – one of Borate Lumber and another of untreated lumber.  28 weeks later, the untreated lumber cockroach population had more than tripled.  Inside the Borate Lumber enclosure, only one insect still survived.

Protect Your Family

SafeLumber is a fire retardant. Walls constructed from SafeLumber are more difficult to ignite and flames spread slower with less smoke production than untreated wood. SafeLumber gives added time for safe evacuation and added time for the fire fighters to arrive and limit the damage.
